About Indoor League

Overview

Indoor hockey is played in a gymnasium on an area slightly larger than a basketball court. There are six players per team and boards along the sideline to allow for continuous play (five field players and a goalie). The quick indoor surface really allows players to focus on perfecting their ball-handling skills, and the small playing area helps players to become more proficient in their short passing skills. Not only is indoor a great time to improve your stick skills, indoor is a lot of fun and is a great way to meet new people and stay in shape! BFHA allows men and women to play.

BFHA offers two adult indoor leagues: Adult Pick-up and Adult Team.

The Adult Pick Up League runs exactly how our indoor league has always run. When players arrive, we throw sticks into a pile and divide up the teams by separating out the sticks. Everyone plays four to five games with that one team, then we re-divide the teams and play more games as time allows. Players register individually for this league.

The Adult Team League has a pre-set schedule based on how many teams register.

Each of the two leagues has its own fee structure and schedule. Both leagues are on Sundays.

2012 Adult Indoor Leagues: Pick Up & Team Leagues

Players may opt to play in both the Pick Up League and the Team League, however, players register separately for each league. See details below.

Pick Up League

  • Sunday's starting January 8, 2012 to February 19 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

    • January 8th: 2:30 - 5:30 pm
    • January 15th: 2:30 - 5:30 pm
    • January 22nd: 2:30 -5:30 pm
    • January 29th: No Pick-Up Hockey - BFHA's Indoor Tournament @ Essex
    • February 5th: Superbowl! No Hockey
    • February 12th: 2:30 - 5:30 pm
    • February 19th: 2:30 - 5:30 pm

  • $55 through December 28th, thereafter $60 through Jan 25th.
  • We throw sticks in and divide into teams based off of numbers and play. We self officiate.
  • USFHA membership required.

Team League

BFHA is excited to announce the beginning of Adult Indoor Team League 2012 Season! The Adult Team League will be run on Sunday afternoons as follows:

  • Feb. 26, 2012: 2:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • Mar. 4, 2012: 2:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • Mar. 11, 2012: 2:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • Mar. 18, 2012: 2:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • Mar. 25, 2012: 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

You can register as an INDIVIDUAL to be placed on a team or register as a complete TEAM for this league. Complete the registration form in the PDF download link below.

  • This league will consist of four to six teams (depending on registration).
  • Games will be played on 1 large court according to the FIH Rules of Indoor Hockey.
  • 6 v 6 (5 field players and 1 keeper).
  • 2 male field players are allowed.
  • The goalie can be either male or female.
  • All teams will play each night.
  • Each team plays 5 total weeks.
  • A final schedule will be developed once team registration forms are received.
  • Players must bring both light and dark colored shirts each week.
  • League cost is $500 plus a $50 forfeit fee per TEAM or $50 per INDIVIDUAL not signing up as a team.
  • The Registration Form, Waivers, and information about where to mail the check are now available as well.
  • Checks must be included with the registration information for it to be complete.
  • USFHA membership required.
