Places We've Been

BFHA Members Travel for the Love of Hockey

BFHA members have traveled nationally and internationally to play field hockey. Below are some highlights of places we're been.

If you would like to share a story of where you have traveled to play, please email .

  • Kingston, Jamaica
In July 2002, BFHA members spent five days in Kingston, Jamaica playing in a tournament and then traveled to Negril for the remaining four days of the trip.  On the way the team stopped at Dunn's River Falls, a massive waterfall.
  • National Field Hockey Festival
In the early 2000s through 2005, the Baltimorons, a BFHA member-based team, played in the National Field Hockey Festival in both West Palm Beach, Florida and Indio, California just outside of Palm Springs.  Although BFHA no longer fields its own team for the National Festival, Baltimore players still play as members of the Southeast team.  Southeast continues to play at Festival with a variety of Baltimore, Washington, and Tidewater players.  Stacie Gado travels to this with the Southeast team every year and can provide more information to players interested in playing at Festival. • Boston and Atlanta Cup
Heineken, a team of all Baltimore/BFHA players travels to Boston Cup in July and Atlanta Cup (Hotlanta) in October each year.  These tournaments are very competitive and present great opportunities to play new teams from Atlanta, Bermuda, Miami, Florida, Nigeria, Canada, etc. In 2007, Lucky Draw (now Heineken) teamed up with DC Dragons and won the Atlanta Cup!
  • University of Delaware Play Day
Each year BFHA sends a team to the University of Delaware Play Day. This is an annual event where BFHA plays against various adult and college teams looking to scrimmage for competition and practice. The tournament is usually in April each year.
  • Washington and Tidewater Play Days
In addition to the BFHA play day in Baltimore in the Fall, each member of Southeast hosts a play day each year to allow us to travel to a new turf to play hockey for the day.
  • Men's Indoor Nationals
Jesse Larson, a BFHA member, was a member of the 2008 Indoor National Team and traveled throughout Europe, including Germany.
